Our Story

Cowtown Peptides was founded in Fort Worth, Texas. The idea was simple: we needed a reliable source for research-grade peptides and couldn't find one we trusted. Too many suppliers with no documentation, no accountability, and no way to verify what was actually in the vial. So we built our own supply chain from the ground up.

Every product we carry has been personally vetted. We work directly with synthesis labs that use solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) — the gold standard for producing research-grade peptides with defined sequences and high purity.

We're not a middleman with a dropship catalog. We test every batch before it ships, and we stand behind every Certificate of Analysis we provide.

How We Make It

Synthesis to shipment — every step documented.

Step 01

Solid-Phase Peptide Synthesis

All peptides are synthesized using Fmoc-based solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). This method builds the peptide chain one amino acid at a time on a solid resin support, giving precise control over sequence and reducing side-chain contamination.

Step 02

Cleavage & Purification

After synthesis, the crude peptide is cleaved from the resin and subjected to preparative HPLC purification. This removes truncated sequences, deletion peptides, and synthesis byproducts to achieve target purity levels.

Step 03

HPLC Purity Verification

Each batch is analyzed by analytical reverse-phase HPLC. We require a minimum purity of ≥99% before a batch is accepted. The chromatogram is included in the Certificate of Analysis for every product.

Step 04

Mass Spectrometry Confirmation

Identity is confirmed by ESI-MS or MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. The observed molecular weight is compared against the theoretical mass to verify the correct peptide sequence was synthesized.

Step 05

Lyophilization & Packaging

Verified peptides are lyophilized (freeze-dried) to a stable powder and sealed under inert atmosphere. Vials are labeled with batch number, peptide name, mass, and purity. Cold-chain packaging is used for temperature-sensitive compounds.

Step 06

Certificate of Analysis

Every batch ships with a full COA including: peptide name, batch number, synthesis date, HPLC chromatogram, purity percentage, MS confirmation, and storage recommendations. COAs are available digitally on request.

What's in a COA?

A Certificate of Analysis is the primary quality document for any research peptide. Here's what ours includes and why each field matters.

Peptide Name & Sequence

Confirms the correct compound was synthesized. The full amino acid sequence is listed so researchers can verify against published literature.

Batch Number & Date

Enables full traceability. If a question arises about a specific lot, we can pull all synthesis and testing records for that batch.

HPLC Chromatogram

The raw purity data. The chromatogram shows the peptide peak relative to impurities. Purity % is calculated from peak area integration.

Mass Spectrum

Identity confirmation. The observed m/z values are compared to the theoretical molecular weight of the target peptide.

Storage Conditions

Peptide stability is sequence-dependent. The COA specifies the correct storage temperature and reconstitution solvent for each compound.
